S2S uses an OpenGL based graphics library
which is C++ based. This is the only non-Java portion
of the system and is required in order to provide our
users with the fastest graphics capabilities available.
The high level graphics functionality assumes that the
target platform fully supports OpenGL. While most scientific
based systems will support OpenGL and therefore will
run S2S applications, it is recommended that you either
consult with S2S Personnel prior to making a purchase,
download and try the software to see if your target platform
is adaquate or download an OpenGL based graphics evaluation
tool and verify that it runs.
Preferred Graphics Adapters:
NVIDIA GeForce - Available on PC Cards
and on high-end laptops
ATI 7500 or 9000 - Available on PC
Cards and on high-end laptops.
*** Warning
- With the ATI Cards and possibly others, the graphics
accelleration
will need to reduced by
two
levels in order for the S2S graphics to function
properly. This can be accomplished by entering Display
Properties
and pressing the Advanced Button on the Settings
Tab. Then select the Troubleshooting Tab and decrease
the
Graphics Acceleration slider value by two steps.
